  Food was NOT good. It was 4 of us, we each got a different entree. Only good thing was the catfish. Service was POOR. We were there 13 min before a waiter came to get drink order. Veggies had no seasoning, chicken was overcooked or cooked in old grease. Waiter took another 15 min to come over and run our credit cards. Terrible experience. I never have to go back.

  This is a great gem in our city. It's uptown in the heart of Charlotte. I wouldn't bring a party of 10 because it's not that large on the inside, or if you do I would call ahead to find out if they're busy at the time or not. It's kind of earthy on the inside as far as the walls and floors. The menu is definitely southern inspired. It's a mixture of "the south" & creole. I had the blackened salmon with rice and greens beans. I absolutely loved everything! My friends had the macaroni and cheese and it was the next best thing to your mother's. The Cornbread is buttermilk made...not hot water! The bread will fill you early so eat it last if you can. The only con is the tip is included in your bill. Our waitress wasn't as attentive as she should have been. She would get your request and walk away before you could finish with something else. I guess since the tip is included she didn't care, but she still had a great attitude. Maybe she was overwhelmed. Nevertheless you will enjoy your food!

  Was out doing some shopping at the citadel and wanted something good to eat. Stumbled upon Mert's Heart & Soul. Will make it a regular stop. I ordered Mert's Heart & Soul Hungry Man (2 meats, 3 sides, drink) for $14.50 and left with lunch for tomorrow. Meat loaf work gravy was solid, fried chicken was the truth and made to order, yams were not the casserole style... So refreshing just to get some sweet buttery yams. Mac n cheese was like my wife's, and I didn't have to wait for thanksgiving for some good dressing. Had an Arnold Palmer to drink, crazy sweet, but the best that I've ever had, I needed water after but wanted more. When you go don't be in a rush, and don't go with more than 5 people if you are trying to eat there. Can't wait to go back!
